The Stoaker Room is a bistro and bar in Cromwell, with a second restaurant in Wānaka, built around what it calls Barrel Cuisine. Local produce is grilled, baked, steamed and smoked in a Stoaker, a cooking system made from a converted French oak Pinot Noir barrel.
Founder Quintin Quider also makes Wild Earth Wines. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner from noon, has a bar and a fireplace, and offers outdoor seating.
It also provides catering, and couples whose weddings it has catered praise the food and the staff. The Wānaka restaurant is at 3 Mountain View Drive and its bar stays open until 9pm.
Rated 4.6 from 579 Google reviews, 439 of them five stars. Weddings would be catered here rather than held at the restaurant, so confirm what is possible by phone.
